Information Studies at Glasgow offers an exciting programme of research and teaching on the creation, management, and use of information in the digital age. Our areas of speciality are:

• Information Management (including digital curation, video games, information visualisation and retrieval).

Our rich environment for practice-based teaching and research immersed in heritage, provides first hand experience in ways that knowledge has been created, preserved and communicated from the past to the digital age.  Our facilities include:

• the world-class collections of the Hunterian Museum
• the University of Glasgow's Archives and Special Collections
• the Museums and Libraries of the City of Glasgow.

Our staff are active in a significant programme of interconnected research with international partners, clustered around three key areas:

• information management
• cultural heritage informatics
• digital humanities.

We are part of the international network of iSchools, which provides opportunities for our students and alumni. 

We are home to the Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) and work closely with this organisation for both teaching and research.
